WFN World Rankings November 2024 post Pacific Cup.

This update will hopefully be easier to read than the post of 13th Dedember 2024. it also has corrected an error that had been carried through from a couple of years ago. eg an mistake in accounting for a plus 40 point win.

Below is the match results and rating points exchanges for the finals of Pacific Cup.

Note: No points exchange in New Zealand v Fiji match as Rating Gap exceeds +/- 10.00 points.

Carlton Sign Irish AFLW Duo

Síofra O’Connell and Aisling Reidy have signed to Carlton’s AFLW rookie list for 2025.

Both originating from County Clare in Ireland, O’Connell and Reidy grew up together, playing Gaelic for Doora-Barefield and even attended University of Limerick together, alongside Carlton’s Erone Fitzpatrick.

The pair caught the eye of Carlton’s recruiters who then travelled to Ireland conducting multiple skills sessions and interviews.

Xin chào! Vietnam to host international footy carnival

Around 300 participants representing 10 countries are set to descend on Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam next week for the 2024 AFL Asia Cup, to be played from December 6-8.
 
The Thanh Long Sports Centre will host the nine-a-side carnival, which will be a celebration of Australian Rules Football and the game’s extensive presence across Asia.
 
There will be open male (10 teams) and open female (five teams) divisions in what will be the first major international competition for many of the competing teams since the last AFL International Cup was staged in 2017.

We were there as the final round of the open men's and women's played out.  The men's finals were already determined but we still saw some good footy and the Falcon's first win of the tournament.  The women's division was very much alive and it was the Kahu would storm through to Saturday's final.
